A moist bed is a technology for water conservation in the production of vegetables and shrub fruits.

A moist bed is a garden bed lined underneath with polythene and filled with layers of organic matter and soil. The lining stops water draining away, so moisture stays in the root zone for longer between waterings. It is a practical answer to dry spells, expensive water and long school holidays.
